Many of us have a favorite hymn or two we like to sing as St. Cyprian’s moves through the church year. Please use this form to let us know which hymns you would like to sing. Our music choices are drawn from hymns in the Hymnal 1982 of the Episcopal Church as well as these supplemental hymnals which have been approved for use in Episcopal Churches: Wonder Love & Praise; Lift Every Voice; Enriching our Music; Voices Found; and My Heart Sings Out.
To request a hymn, please write the titles(s) below and send it in to us. We need your name and a way to contact you in case we have a hard time finding a hymn you request. We’d also like to let you know when we are able to fit in one of your suggestions so you will be able to join us that Sunday.
In an Episcopal Church, the rector – or in our case – vicar – has the responsibility of managing the music used in worship. In our case, the interim vicar selects music from hymns approved for use in Episcopal Churches. He works from the liturgical calendar as well as special days or events that are important in the life of the parish. That is why the sequence hymn that precedes the gospel will often reflect the Gospel’s message or why Christmas hymns are sung during the Christmas season. Requests from our members are one of the sources we will use in planning worship music as we move ahead. We also use specialized books and a computer program to find the best music for each worship service.
Thanks for your help as we move to improve the music in our worship services.
