St Cyprian’s Community Kitchen builds community one meal at a time. We cultivate deep sustainable connections with our neighborhood and wider community by sharing healthy food, resources and services.
We use our kitchen to prepare food for fee community dinners and to help Episcopate Senior Communities serve a free meal to senior citizens each month. Those cooking in our kitchen range from Simply Sandwiches to University of San Francisco students and people from the neighborhood who are seeking a stronger sense of community.
We work with a number of community groups who use this kitchen Each month representatives of these groups gather as a Kitchen Users Group to help us coordinate use of the facility and raise funds for our renovation. We usually gather one weekend a month for cleaning or training activities.
St. Cyprian’s Community Kitchen is in need of significant physical improvements if we wish to serve the wider community. Over the next year, we will be raising funds to provide low-cost community space rentals for start-up culinary entrepreneurs, caterers and even individuals wishing to utilize the space. The church itself plans to use the kitchen as well in order to prepare food items for church parishioners, events and nonprofit outreach. One such partnership, Simply Sandwiches, is currently utilizing the space to make vegetarian sandwiches and distribute them to individuals whom are homeless in San Francisco.
